AT THE BASE OF MT. KENYA...

We have had coffees from Nyeri and Kirinyaga but never from Embu.  Most of the coffees in Kenya are grown around the base of Mt. Kenya, which provides rich volcanic soils for the plants to thrive in.  Surrounding farmers bring their cherries to the Kavutiri washing station to be processed and dried. Kavutiri uses the traditional 72 hour Kenya washing process, producing an extremely clean and bright coffee.  I was excited about this coffee because of its big sweetness and aspects of cranberry that reminded me of a warm cranberry cake.
